First Openly-Gay Major League Baseball Player
This is the fictional story of the first openly-gay major league baseball player set in 2009. The story is almost word-for-word a re-telling of the true story of Jackie Robinson’s first year in the Major Leagues in 1947 as the first black person in the highest level of professional baseball. The racism Jackie faced in 1947 would probably mirror the homophobia that an openly-gay person would face in 2009. Professional sports is one of the most homophobic of environments in America, and many gay professional sports players remain in the closet because of this homophobia. This video is to inspire those players to come out, for all gay people in America. Video: Sean Chapin
