Why should we care about all the entertainment regarding Clemens, Pettitte, and McNamee on HGH and steroids? I say "SO WHAT". The focus should be placed on more significant issues around performance enhancing drugs then "who is lying".

Here we go again. We have Pettite, Clemens, HGH and steroids. SO WHAT!!! I’m tired of all this already. We all know performance enhancing drugs have been an issue in sports for a long time. We all know that professional sports have normally turned the other cheek regarding the usage of performance enhancing drugs. We all know the old saying in baseball that “If you’re not cheating, your not trying.” Of course, this topic is a little more over the edge than the old timers where thinking. We all know there is some truth and lies to the testimony of everyone involved in the current Mitchell report. Pettitte, Clemens, McNamee, HGH and steroids are just on a center stage for entertainment purposes by our government and at our expense.

Yes, my issue is the time and money spent again by our government. The focus is on an insignificant topic compared to the overarching issue of a big issue of HGH and steroids in our kids. What do we focus on? “Who is Lying?” These gentlemen didn’t kill anyone or hurt anyone directly, except maybe for themselves. So I ask “SO WHAT!!”

My contention is there are more performance enhancement drugs occurring and condoned at all levels. From the high school locker room, to the athletes dorm, and the fitness center gyms around the country, the attitude towards using these drugs is carefree and at times desperate by athletes. We all know why and what causes people to use them. So why do we worry about the past and focus on the present and future. Our government efforts need to focus on the implementation of methods, policy, and new laws to eliminate usage at all levels. This effort is more inline of our governments responsibility to protect the public versus finding out who is lying from a few bad apples.

If there are laws broken, let the judicial system of our government do it’s job.

In the meantime, lets now focus our efforts to ensure future generation of athletes are free from performance enhancing drugs. To ensure they can have trust and faith they are competing on the same level as others with the same natural ability. What is more important is, if those who decide to not follow the rules, will be held responsible for their actions in the court of law.
